Helping users get the latest in entertainment, offers and news from the Kingfisher Shopping Centre in Redditch.
Capital and Regional own and manage a number of high profile retail centres throughout the UK.
In a continuation of our partnership with C&R, The Kingfisher Redditch shopping centre website required a complete overhaul in terms of design, content and functionality.
We began at the ground floor, mapping a series of detailed wireframe prototypes, laying down a blueprint for what would become the basis for the new website build.
As always, we considered a variety of user devices at all stages of development in creating a unique but simple user centred experience.
Moving up to the first floor we pulled details of movies showing at the Vue Cinema, part of the Kingfisher Redditch complex via an API integration that included show times and the ability to link directly to the Vue booking engine.
We crafted an interactive map to allow visitors to navigate the shopping centre and view store details such as opening times and special offers relevant to each store — all managed by the client via the Umbraco content management system.

The shop front
The Kingfisher brand’s vibrant palette was applied throughout the website, creating a welcoming and friendly look and feel.
The brand is represented by a fun character named Kingy. This kingfisher motif was animated subtly, with its trail being used delicately to unite content blocks and create flow throughout specific parts of the pages.
The website was developed using content blocks through the Umbraco CMS to allow for the greatest flexibility for content editors. A visually rich brand experience, not forgetting bringing Kingy to life, helped create a website which wasn’t just a shop window. Effective use of key interactive features and interfaces facilitated user experience, whilst being informative and ultimately useful.
